50 Cent isn’t happy with New York City’s new mayor, and he’s making sure everyone knows it.
The rapper and business mogul went off on Instagram after Zohran Mamdani won the NYC mayoral race on November 4, slamming the progressive politician’s tax proposal and warning it could push wealthy residents out of the city.
50 Cent posted an AI-generated image of a tombstone with the blunt message:
“New York is over, pack it up, let’s go! THE MAN’S first job is Mayor MAMDANI run New York.”
It’s not the first time the two have clashed. 50 has been vocal about his concerns over Mamdani’s economic policies, and this latest post shows he’s not letting up.
During an appearance on MSNBC’s The Beat with Ari Melber, Mamdani addressed the drama with a smile, and admitted he still bumps 50’s classic “Many Men.”
“He’s a critic!” Mamdani joked. “I didn’t even know what my salary would be until I opened Instagram and saw 50 Cent offering me some made-up number. I was like, ‘That’s a very specific amount of money. Oh my god!'”
Mamdani explained his tax proposal simply: the top one percent of earners, those making over $1 million a year, would pay just two percent more in taxes.
He argues the money would go toward improving services that benefit everyone.
“I think asking the wealthiest to contribute a bit more toward an economic agenda that transforms every New Yorker’s life, including their own, is worthwhile,” he said.
When libraries and sanitation suffer, he added, everyone feels it, not just the poor.
In a follow-up Instagram post, 50 Cent gave Mamdani credit for good intentions but doubled down on his concerns.
“His tax plan is gonna run the big money out of the city, and if he defunds the police, they are gonna purge,” he wrote.
Then he hinted at his own exit strategy: “All roads lead to Shreveport!”
