British-Nigerian actor Damson Idris’s family is dealing with the aftermath of a terrifying knife attack that left his 17-year-old nephew with facial injuries.
Isaiah Ishmael Idris, a sixth-form student, was slashed across the face while riding the Docklands Light Railway early Saturday morning.
The teenager managed to get off at Pontoon Dock station in east London and called emergency services for help.
The attack happened around 12:46 a.m. on November 1st. By the time police arrived, the attacker had already left the scene.
Isaiah’s uncle, Habeeb Idris, spoke briefly to the Daily Mail about the incident: “I am aware that Isaiah was involved in the incident on a train, but we are dealing with this privately as a family.”
Damson Idris, 34, recently starred opposite Brad Pitt in F1: The Movie as Joshua Pearce. The Peckham-born actor is the youngest of six siblings. Isaiah’s father is Murtala Murray Idris, Damson’s older brother.
In a separate but related development, 32-year-old Anthony Williams appeared in Peterborough Magistrates’ Court on Monday facing 10 counts of attempted murder.
The charges stem from a mass stabbing on a London North Eastern Railway train traveling from Doncaster to King’s Cross on Saturday night.
The train made an emergency stop at Huntingdon during the attack.
Police are now investigating whether an earlier attack on September 27th, which also left a victim with facial injuries, could be connected to the same suspect.
The British Transport Police and Cambridgeshire Police are continuing their investigations.
