Nigerian physician and popular medical influencer, Chinonso Egemba, better known as Aproko Doctor, has responded to a claim suggesting that excessive sleep leads to poverty. The debate started when Twitter user Morris Monye expressed frustration over people still being asleep at 7 or 8 a.m. He tweeted:
“Hate when I message people by 6 a.m. or 7 a.m. and they are still sleeping.”
In reaction, Aproko Doctor emphasized the importance of getting enough rest, warning that sleep deprivation can lead to serious health issues in the long run.
He wrote:
“Abeg, sleep o! Little sleep is a recipe for dementia in old age. People are suffering because of little sleep.”
