Abia State has attracted a groundbreaking $2 billion investment that is set to create over 200,000 direct and indirect jobs, thanks to the efforts of Governor Alex Otti and Apostle Chibuzor Gift Chinyere, Founder and General Overseer of Omega Power Ministries (OPM). The agreement, signed on Monday, brings the Wiocc Group to Abia State to establish statewide internet broadband connectivity and advanced data centers. These facilities will leverage high-speed fiber optic networks and the DigOnce Policy to position Abia as a digital and telecommunications hub, benefiting the South-East and Niger Delta regions.
The project includes a fiber optics network connecting Abia to the Atlantic Ocean through the Owaza River, with links to neighboring states such as Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Bayelsa, and others in the South-East. This initiative is expected to drive the state’s digital economy while creating significant employment opportunities.
Speaking after the MoU signing, Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere commended Governor Otti for his transformational leadership, which has made Abia a magnet for foreign investment despite a challenging national economic climate.
“Dr. Alex Otti is God-sent to transform Abia State. While investors are leaving Nigeria, Abia is attracting them due to his visionary and investor-friendly leadership,” Apostle Chinyere stated.
Governor Otti’s leadership and the strategic partnership with Wiocc Group mark a turning point for Abia State’s economy, ushering in a new era of technological innovation and economic growth.
