Nollywood actor Adeniyi Johnson has opened up about his emotional 10-year wait to become a father, sharing his inspiring journey of hope, faith, and perseverance. In a heartfelt conversation with fellow actor Kunle Afod, Adeniyi recounted the challenges he faced during this period, which spanned two marriages and years of prayers.
After waiting three years for a child in his first marriage, he married Oluwaseyi Edun in 2018. Together, they spent seven more years seeking God’s blessing for a child. Their prayers were answered in February 2023 with the birth of twins—a boy and a girl. Reflecting on the journey, Adeniyi said:
“The vigil was much. But we thank God that what one has been crying over, God turned into joy. It is a cry of 10 years.
Myself and the mother of the twins have been seeking God’s face for a child for seven years. And when it came, God said He wanted to gift me with twins. What do I do?”
Now, as a proud father, Adeniyi finds joy in the simple moments with his children. “Whenever I am at home, and I see them climbing on top of me, I am always very happy. I say, ‘Thank you, God.’”
He also spoke about the unique challenges and blessings of raising twins, adding, “Other people buy diapers for one child; for us, we buy two. We bless God for provision. They also eat well.”
Despite the long wait, Adeniyi and his wife never let the pressure of time affect them. “We did not allow age to tell on us. And we thank God we do not look like what we have passed through,” he concluded.
