Adaora Soludo, daughter of Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo, has responded after being called out over reports of women being harassed for their dressing in Anambra State. The controversy began after a viral video showed a security officer claiming that Governor Soludo had ordered the arrest of women seen without bras or panties.
The state government quickly denied the directive, dismissing it as baseless. However, despite the official denial, another video surfaced online showing a woman allegedly being detained by security personnel for “indecent dressing.”
This sparked outrage, with many Nigerians criticizing the government for what they saw as an attack on women’s rights. The backlash spilled onto social media, particularly X (formerly Twitter), where users tagged Adaora and questioned why women were being harassed under her father’s administration.
Some pointed out that Soludo’s children live abroad and dress however they like, yet women in Anambra were reportedly facing restrictions.
One angry user wrote:
“We need to start shaming useless politicians and their family members. @CCSoludo, your children live abroad and can dress however they want without fear of harassment, yet here you are putting women in danger? @adaorasoludo, is your father mad???”
Another criticized Adaora for discussing luxury fashion while women in her state were allegedly being oppressed:
“It’s insane because @adaorasoludo is on here talking about Chanel bags while her father is putting women in danger with this insane bra policy. Is it not madness?”
In response, Adaora took to X to clarify that her father had no hand in the alleged policy.
“There is no law that polices women’s bodies and what they wear. The Anambra government has come out to debunk that weird rumor, so we can stop spreading fake news now. Peace and love,” she wrote.
