Adeleke Set to Reveal New Party Before December 13 After Dumping PDP — Osun Commissioner

Governor Adeleke

Osun State’s Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, has revealed that Governor Ademola Adeleke will officially announce the political party he’s joining no later than December 13. This follows Adeleke’s resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Adeleke confirmed that he submitted his resignation letter to PDP leaders in Sagba Abogunde, Ward 2, Ede North Local Government, back on November 4, 2025. Speaking on a political programme on Rave FM in Osogbo, Alimi said the governor’s exit didn’t come as a surprise, describing it as “long overdue” due to the PDP’s prolonged internal crisis.

“The governor has formally resigned from the PDP. He wrote his resignation letter some time ago,” Alimi said, urging residents to stay calm and continue backing the administration.

He explained that the deep cracks within the PDP’s national leadership pushed the governor to leave, especially with the governorship election approaching and the INEC nomination window closing on December 15.

“If not for the division at the national level which is a key factor in securing the governor’s nomination he wouldn’t have left,” Alimi said.

He also dismissed claims that the All Progressives Congress (APC) was excited about Adeleke’s resignation, calling the narrative deceptive. According to him, the APC had hoped Adeleke would remain in the troubled PDP so they could use the party’s crisis to challenge his candidacy.

“Adeleke is smarter than that. He’s always a step ahead of them,” he said.

On what Adeleke’s next move will be, Alimi said discussions are ongoing and the governor will make an official announcement soon. “On or before December 12 or 13, everyone will know the governor’s next political home,” he hinted.

Alimi added that the governor’s departure could have been avoided if the PDP wasn’t battling internal divisions at the national level.
