The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, directed the reinstatement of the Nigerian Air Force Surveillance Aircraft (NAFSA) Eagle Project suspended seven years ago.

Abubakar made this known on Thursday at the 3rd Quarter 2025 Defence Headquarters and Services Transformation Seminar with the theme “Galvanising the Will to Fight: Issues and Transformative Solutions for the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

He said the project would yield a light multi-purpose 8-seat utility aircraft that would enhance the self-sufficiency of the Air Force in aerospace technology and drive innovation and technological advancement of the domestic aviation sector.

The Chief of the Air called on staff to stay committed to the defence of Nigeria’s territorial integrity, pointing out that while as vital as cutting-edge equipment and welfare improvement were, intangibles such as resilience, loyalty, and will to fight remained top drivers in warfare.

The will to fight is a complex and determining element that often holds the difference between winning and losing war. It goes beyond availability of weapons and technology it entails devotion, fidelity, determination, and willingness to make sacrifices,” he clarified.

Abubakar added that the Armed Forces have also enhanced troops’ morale despite gigantic operation challenges and went on to say that some of such improvements consist of reducing accommodation shortages from 300% to about 85% through new developments and refurbishment, altering the Group Life Assurance Policy (GLAP) to the Group Personnel Accident Insurance Policy (GPAIP), and enhancing logistics with over 70 additional vehicles.

He further stated that the NAF personnel had also been re-kitted in new uniforms, highlighting moves to boost morale and operational effectiveness.
