Following widespread backlash over MTN Nigeria’s recent tariff hike, Airtel, the country’s second-largest telecom provider, has also adjusted its pricing structure, increasing data and call rates.
On Monday, Airtel Nigeria announced new data prices on its website, with some bundles seeing increases of up to 50%. The company cited rising operational expenses as a key factor behind the changes, mirroring concerns across the telecom industry.
In addition to higher data costs, Airtel also raised voice call tariffs over the past weekend, affecting its 56 million subscribers nationwide. Despite the price adjustments, Airtel reassured customers that its services remain accessible, stating, “Whatever your data needs are, we have a plan for you.
