Oyo Alaafin, Oba Akeem Owoade, dismissed reports that he is engaged in a supremacy battle or struggle with the Ife Ooni, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, or other monarchs beyond Yorubaland.
This was stated by Alaafin in a statement released on Thursday by his Director of Media and Publicity, Bode Durojaiye, in Ibadan.
Rumors of tension surfaced mid-week following Oba Owoade’s public censure of the Ooni for awarding the chieftaincy title of Okanlomo of Oduwa to entrepreneur Dotun Sanusi at the inauguration of the local social media application, 2geda, at Ilaji Hotel in Ibadan.
The palace reiterated that the Alaafin is keen on Yoruba culture and heritage preservation as well as the welfare, development, and protection of his people.
