The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Alternative Bank, Mr. Hassan Yusuf, has expressed his appreciation for the bank’s recognition as the Most Innovative Bank of 2024 by LEADERSHIP Group Limited. He conveyed his gratitude when a delegation from the media organization, led by its Executive Vice Chairman, Mr. Mike Okpere, visited the bank to formally invite its management to the upcoming award ceremony.
Representing Mr. Yusuf during the visit, the Executive Director, South, Korede Demola-Adeniyi, reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to pioneering financial solutions that cater to its expanding customer base.
Explaining the selection process, Mr. Okpere noted that LEADERSHIP, established 20 years ago, annually undertakes a rigorous evaluation of individuals and organizations making significant impacts in Nigeria’s political and economic landscape. He highlighted that after careful deliberation, Alternative Bank was chosen for its innovative banking approach.
He also announced other prominent winners of the 2024 LEADERSHIP Awards, including Aliko Dangote as the LEADERSHIP Person of the Year for his transformational Dangote Refinery. Additionally, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike was recognized for his infrastructure development initiatives in Abuja.
Furthermore, six governors across different political affiliations were honored for their societal impact:
- Governor Ademola Adeleke (Osun State)
- Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah (Enugu State)
- Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf (Kano State)
- Governor Umar Namadi (Jigawa State)
- Governor Umo Eno (Akwa Ibom State)
In the banking sector, Zenith Bank’s MD was named Banker of the Year for outstanding contributions over the past two years. Mr. Okpere extended a formal invitation to Alternative Bank’s leadership to attend the award ceremony on April 8, 2025, at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
