Brian Nwana Wins TikTok Africa Storyteller of the Year for Showcasing Abuja’s Food Culture

Abuja-based content creator and Guinness World Record holder, Brian Nwana, has been named TikTok Africa’s Storyteller of the Year, a major win that celebrates his love for Nigerian food and his passion for telling Abuja’s everyday stories.

Brian, who is widely known for his lively food reviews and street-level storytelling, said the recognition felt “surreal.” For him, the award is not just about personal success, but about shining a spotlight on the city he loves and the small food businesses many people overlook.

“Every creator is a storyteller,” he said. “The stories we tell help shape how people see our communities, our cities, and our country. When we do that, we change the narrative.”

Looking back, Brian said he never set out chasing awards or global attention. His goal was simple to show people the incredible food, creativity, and hidden gems Abuja has to offer. That mission gained massive attention when he broke the Guinness World Record for visiting 150 restaurants in one day, a feat that brought international focus to local food spots.

The TikTok award, he said, feels like another boost for that same dream. Brian also expressed heartfelt gratitude to his family, friends, and longtime supporters, noting that sharing the moment with them made it even more special. He gave special credit to his manager, Rhoda Kusimo Iloba, for helping guide his journey.

From filming casual food reviews with a camera to earning recognition on one of the world’s biggest social media platforms, Brian’s story reflects the power of passion, consistency, and staying true to one’s roots. Today, he stands as one of Abuja’s most influential creative voices celebrated for his humour, authenticity, and deep love for the city.
