Crystal Palace Shock Liverpool With Dramatic 2-1 Win at Selhurst Park

Premier League

Crystal Palace pulled off a stunning upset on Saturday, ending Liverpool’s flawless start to the season with a dramatic 2-1 victory sealed by Eddie Nketiah’s last-minute strike at Selhurst Park.

The Eagles struck first in the 10th minute when Ismaïla Sarr capitalised on a defensive mix-up after Marc Guéhi’s header from Daichi Kamada’s corner forced Ryan Gravenberch into a costly error. Sarr pounced to slot home, putting Palace ahead early.

Liverpool, who had established a reputation for late heroics during this season, were poised for another miracle turnaround when Federico Chiesa equalized with a late goal. However, Nketiah, who was on the bench, left the champions stunned as he delivered a great finish in the stoppage time to send manager Oliver Glasner and the home fans into raptures.

There was also a premature stoppage due to an emergency in the stands, adding to the angst of a fiercely contested match.

Palace’s hard-won battle earned Liverpool their league’s first defeat since the Community Shield, proving once again that the Premier League never fails to surprise.
