Sean “Diddy” Combs faces a significant setback in his mounting legal battles as prominent attorney Anthony Ricco has abruptly withdrawn from representing the embattled music mogul ahead of his upcoming sex trafficking trial.
Ricco, who gained national recognition for his work on the bin Laden case, filed a motion in New York Federal Court on Thursday formally requesting to step down from Diddy’s defense team.
While specific reasons remain undisclosed, Ricco cited “matters covered by attorney-client privilege” in his filing to the judge.
“I cannot effectively act as counsel for Sean Combs in any situation,” Ricco stated in the relief motion, which still requires judicial approval before becoming official.
