Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has paid a condolence visit to the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, in Abuja following the gruesome killing of travellers in Uromi, Edo State. The victims, hunters from Kano State, were murdered by a mob while en route to Kano for Sallah celebrations.
During the visit, Governor Okpebholo assured the Deputy Senate President that 14 suspects arrested in connection with the killings would be taken to Abuja for further interrogation. He condemned the act as unfortunate and pledged that the Edo State government would support the victims’ families.
Senator Barau Jibrin expressed his gratitude for the visit, calling for justice to be served and emphasizing that bringing the perpetrators to book would deter future violence. He also commended the efforts of the Edo State government in addressing the tragedy.
