Funke Akindele has done it again. The Nollywood powerhouse’s latest release, ‘Everybody Loves Jenifa,’ has blasted through the box office ceiling, raking in a staggering ₦1.466 billion and claiming the throne as the highest-grossing Nigerian film of all time. Going head-to-head with heavyweight contenders like Toyin Abraham’s ‘Alakada: Bad and Boujee,’ Akindele’s latest masterpiece has proven unstoppable at the box office. What’s even more impressive?
The film smashed through the ₦1 billion barrier in less than two weeks – a feat that has left industry watchers speechless. FilmOne, the film’s distributor, couldn’t contain their excitement, taking to Instagram to share the news:
“Everybody Loves Jenifa has officially hit a historic ₦1.466 billion and counting at the box office, making it the highest-grossing film of all time!”
They expressed their heartfelt thanks to moviegoers in both Nigeria and Ghana, inviting others to “experience the magic on the big screen.”
This isn’t Akindele’s first time making history. Just recently, her film ‘A Tribe Called Judah’ became the first Nollywood production to cross the ₦1 billion mark.
