The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has dismantled a notorious armed robbery and car-snatching syndicate after a series of coordinated intelligence-driven operations across Abuja and neighbouring states.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, four suspects were arrested and six stolen vehicles were recovered alongside more than ₦15 million cash traced to the syndicate.
Adeh explained that the breakthrough followed earlier recoveries made by the Jabi, Gwagwalada, and Mabushi Divisions, which intercepted three stolen vehicles. The Command’s elite Scorpion Squad later expanded the operation, arresting additional suspects and recovering more vehicles and cash.
Recovered vehicles include:
A black 2008 Toyota Prado SUV (Reg. No: RSH 967 JJ) – Jabi Division
A grey 2009 KIA Optima (Reg. No: RMY 88 AA) – Mabushi Division
A grey Toyota Corolla – Gwagwalada Division
A grey Toyota Corolla (Reg. No: JUX 890 AA) – Scorpion Squad
An ash-coloured Toyota Camry (Reg. No: APR 459 AE) – Scorpion Squad
A black Toyota Corolla (Reg. No: 578 AA) – Scorpion Squad
The suspects in custody include ex-convict Dalhatu Bashiru, Nwadigo Emmanuel, Uchenna Kalu, and the syndicate’s principal receiver, Alhaji Jazuli Adamu. Jazuli was arrested in Fagge LGA of Kano State with ₦15,280,000 in cash allegedly intended for the purchase and resale of recently stolen vehicles.
Investigators also uncovered that Jazuli worked closely with an accomplice, Alhaji Abdulkarim Gabeida Ibrahim, a citizen of Niger Republic, who is believed to be responsible for smuggling stolen cars across the border. Ibrahim is currently on the run, with efforts underway to apprehend him.
The FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, commended the officers for their dedication, noting that the success of the operation underscores the power of intelligence and technology in modern policing.
He urged car owners to install functional tracking devices to aid swift recovery in cases of theft.
All suspects and recovered items are currently in police custody as investigations continue to track down other fleeing members of the syndicate.
