Five people were killed and at least ten houses destroyed when suspected herdsmen attacked Tim village in Chakfem District, Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State on Tuesday evening, August 19, 2025.
The attack left several others injured in what eyewitnesses described as a sudden and devastating assault on the community.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama said early investigations suggest the incident might have been a revenge attack connected to allegations of cattle theft in the area.
The victims have been buried following local customs, while the injured are being treated at nearby hospitals.
Community members complained that security forces arrived too late to help, citing challenges like difficult terrain, poor mobile network coverage, and the village’s isolated location as reasons for the delayed response.
