Jack Butland, the former Manchester United goalkeeper now playing for Rangers, was rushed to the hospital on Tuesday due to a “serious” internal bleed. The injury has unfortunately ruled him out of Thursday’s highly anticipated Old Firm derby against Celtic.
According to Rangers Review (via Mirror), Butland, 31, was hospitalized overnight but was discharged the following morning. While he is now out of the hospital, he will miss the crucial match at Ibrox due to his condition.
Butland, a product of the Birmingham City academy, joined Rangers from Crystal Palace in 2023 after a loan spell at Manchester United. Since his arrival, he has made 87 appearances for the club and helped them secure the Scottish League Cup last season.
