Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, has strongly denied rumors linking him to former BBNaija star, Nengi Rebecca Hampson. Speculation recently surfaced that Nengi had welcomed a child for the governor and was now his fifth wife.
The claims, which gained traction after controversial blogger Gistlover hinted at the alleged affair, have now been dismissed by the governor’s camp. Speaking on behalf of Governor Diri, his spokesperson, Dr. Kola Oredipe, described the allegations as “baseless fabrications.”
“Nengi Rebecca Hampson has no personal relationship with Governor Diri,” Oredipe stated. “Regrettably, those who spread fake news are not comfortable with the governor’s rising political profile.”
He further slammed the rumors as a deliberate distraction, calling for stronger regulation of social media platforms.
“While we were busy inaugurating a brand-new road in Yenagoa, social media e-rats were spreading falsehoods about the governor,” Oredipe added.
