As Muslims across Oyo State and Nigeria begin the holy month of Ramadan, Governor Seyi Makinde has called on the Muslim Ummah to rededicate themselves to Allah (SWT) and use the sacred period to pray for his administration, Oyo State, and the nation.
In a message following the sighting of the crescent moon on March 1, 2025, which marks the beginning of Ramadan, Makinde congratulated Muslims on witnessing another Ramadan and urged them to embrace the virtues of worship, humanity, and patriotism.
“The Ramadan period is an auspicious season for us all to rededicate ourselves to the worship of Allah, the love of humanity, and other virtues taught by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him),” he stated.
Citing Surah Baqarah, Verse 183, the governor reminded Muslims of the essence of fasting:
‘O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous.’
Governor Makinde acknowledged the support of the Muslim community for his administration and called for continued prayers for wisdom, guidance, and prosperity for Oyo State and Nigeria.
“As I have always said, our administration has enjoyed massive support from the Muslim Ummah. So, this is another opportunity to pray for us and to pray for our nation; that Allah will continue to guide us as we do everything possible to uplift our dear state and move its people from poverty to prosperity.”
He concluded his message with warm Ramadan greetings, wishing all Muslims a blessed and spiritually fulfilling fasting season.
