Hilda Baci Set to Cook World’s Largest Jollof Rice in Lagos This September

Hilda Baci

Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci is preparing to make culinary history again with an ambitious plan to cook the world’s largest pot of jollof rice.

The record-breaking event is scheduled for September 12, 2025, at Muri Okunola Park in Lagos.

The centerpiece of this extraordinary undertaking is a massive cooking pot measuring six meters wide and six meters high, which has been two years in the making.

But this isn’t just about breaking records – Baci envisions the event as a vibrant cultural festival that celebrates Nigerian cuisine alongside music and community spirit.

Following her successful 2023 cookathon that captured global attention, Baci sees this jollof rice project as the next chapter in showcasing West African culture to the world.

She describes jollof as “the heartbeat of West Africa” and views the cooking demonstration as a way to tell Nigeria’s story through food.

The chef has partnered with Gino, a well-known Nigerian food brand, to bring her vision to life.

This collaboration has been instrumental in transforming what started as a dream two years ago into an upcoming reality.

Baci has extended an open invitation to Nigerians and food enthusiasts worldwide to attend this historic cooking demonstration.
