IPAC Condemns Killing of 16 Hunters in Edo, Calls for Justice and Better Governance

The Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has condemned the barbaric killing of 16 hunters in Uromi, Edo State. The victims, who had come from Port Harcourt to Kano to celebrate Sallah with their families, were brutally murdered in what IPAC described as an “unjust and wicked” act.

IPAC National Chairman, Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, in his Eid-el-Fitr message to Muslims in Nigeria, called on security agencies to quickly arrest and prosecute the perpetrators of the killings. He stressed that all lives are important and should be safeguarded as the nation works towards a just and democratic society.

Dantalle also lauded Muslims on fulfilling Ramadan with a success message and urged them to maintain ethics of piety, love, toleration, gift of nature, and co-existence to strive for an even better society.

Besides, he appealed to all levels of government to place the well-being of citizens as priority focus in line with Section 14(2)(b) of the 1999 Constitution which provides that security and welfare shall be the aim of government. He noted that Nigerians should receive a good deal from their leaders with further assertion that good governance is needed for sustainable democracy and national development.

“It is time for patriotism. All hands on deck must be there in our shared determination, commitment, and resolve to construct a better nation which will be the pride of generations to come,” Dantalle claimed.
