Popular Nigerian choreographer Kaffy has spoken about the difficulties she experiences in her private life after her divorce, stating that most men avoid propositioning her because she is a single mother of two kids.
In an open interview, the 45-year-old dance icon had spoken out against social stigma against divorced women, asking why motherhood and past marital histories are considered liabilities. She argued that with more and more failed marriages, divorce would not necessarily make a woman undesirable.
“I had someone say to me because I’m a single mom, I can’t even think about dating him,” she disclosed. “What makes you think a divorced woman, who has worked on herself, isn’t even a more suitable candidate for marriage? Many people judging me are not even in their own marriages anymore.”
Kaffy stressed that true love would be stability and peace, not fear or worry, noticing that over 70% of marriages these days don’t make it. She also added that individuals who have experienced break-ups and have embraced self-development become improved and kinder partners.
Retrospecting at her experience, the choreographer admitted that healing from her divorce has not come easy but maintained her commitment to responsible raising of her children and being loyal to her principles.
“I know how responsible I am as a woman. I don’t do casual things, and I won’t let stigma define me,” she asserted.
