The Kano State House of Assembly has passed a bill into law establishing a state-owned security outfit to enhance security operations across the state. The decision followed extensive debates, with one of the key provisions of the law barring members of political parties from heading the security agency.
Speaking on the development, the Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Lawan Husaini Dala, stated that the law underwent a thorough review to ensure it serves the interests of all sectors in the state.
“The law empowers the security personnel to bear arms, make arrests, prevent crimes, and apprehend offenders across Kano State,” Dala said.
He further assured that the leadership of the security outfit would be entrusted to a non-partisan indigene of the state in accordance with the law.
