The Kogi State Government has called on residents to take an active role in safeguarding public infrastructure in their communities to sustain the state’s rapid development. Speaking in Lokoja, Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, emphasized that “the real owners of public infrastructure are the people, and it is their responsibility to protect them.”
Fanwo highlighted the significant progress made under Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s administration, noting improvements in roads, education, commercial facilities, and water supply networks across the state. Our water infrastructure has improved tremendously, particularly in major cities, thanks to the tireless efforts of the State Ministry of Water Resources. However, while the government is committed to serving the people, real progress happens when citizens take ownership and protect these projects, he said.
The commissioner also underscored the government’s commitment to rural development, revealing that over 150 primary healthcare centers are being upgraded to provide secondary healthcare services in rural areas. To combat vandalism, Fanwo urged citizens to report any destruction of public infrastructure through the Ministry of Information and Communications, assuring them of confidentiality. Reports can be made by calling 07073167729.
“These investments, worth billions of naira, must be safeguarded by the people to ensure they continue benefiting all,” he added.
