Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has sworn in Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe and Dr. Maryam Nnafatima Imam as commissioners and made substantial reshuffling of the State Executive Council (SEC). While administering the oath of office on the new commissioners during the swearing-in ceremony, AbdulRazaq challenged them to embrace a spirit of collaboration and join hands with his government’s initiatives towards enhancing governance across various sectors.
Portfolio Assignments and Cabinet Reshuffle:
- Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe– Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development.
- Dr. Maryam Nnafatima Imam – Commissioner for Social Development.
- Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo-Kawu – Moved from Education and Human Capital Development to Tertiary Education.
- Dr. Mary Arinde – Moved from Tertiary Education to Planning and Economic Development.
- Aliyu Kora Sabi – Swapped to commissioned Commissioner of the new Transportation Ministry.
- Olohuntoyosi Thomas Adebayo – Rearranged from Agriculture and Rural Development to the newly established Ministry of Livestock Development.
- Dr. Afeez Abolore – Swapped from Solid Minerals Development to Agriculture and Rural Development.
- Abosede Olaitan Buraimoh – Enlisted now for Social Development.
Governor AbdulRazaq welcomed the new commissioners, referring to their appointment as a “deserving elevation” from previous service as Senior Special Assistants. He also appealed for teamwork and innovativeness in public service and urged them to be cautious when making decisions so that they advanced the development of Kwara State.
“Our government has made credible progress in education, health, infrastructure, social inclusion, and economic growth. I urge you to adopt innovation, touch people’s lives, and conduct business in an open way in a bid to build on these achievements,” he said.
The governor welcomed the appointees and wished them well in their duties.
