The Kwara State government has acquired 3,000 hectares of land in Malete, Moro Local Government Area, for livestock production and an additional 2,000 hectares along the Ilorin-Ogbomoso Road for the construction of an Industrial Park. The Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Geographic Information Service (KWGIS), Abdulkareem Sulyman, revealed this during an interview in Ilorin on Monday.
He stated that 70% of compensation payments for the Malete land acquisition have been completed, while compensation for the Industrial Park land is currently being processed. Sulyman also noted progress on the 19,000 hectares earmarked for the Ilorin SmartCity project, highlighting the state government’s commitment to infrastructure and economic development.
He attributed the success of land reforms and digital transition in Kwara to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s visionary leadership. “The ongoing automation of land administration has significantly reduced bottlenecks, curbed land grabbing, and enhanced efficiency,” Sulyman said, adding that these reforms have also boosted the state’s internally generated revenue.
The projects align with Kwara State’s master plan to promote growth and sustainable development across key sectors.
