Lagos State Police have arrested a car wash attendant who stole a customer’s vehicle in the Alausa area of the state.

Police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin said detectives from the Alausa Division tracked the suspect to Sagamu in Ogun State, where they recovered the stolen car and made the arrest.

Hundeyin used the incident to remind vehicle owners to stay alert. “A car wash attendant in Alausa ran away with a customer’s vehicle.

Detectives of the Alausa Police Division arrested him with the vehicle in Sagamu. Be security conscious always,” he said.

In a separate operation, police arrested five suspected car thieves and one buyer connected to a stolen vehicle in Lekki.

The case began when a taxi driver reported on August 1 that three men had hired his services along Platinum Way, Jakande, Lekki.

During the trip, one suspect pulled out a locally made gun, forced the driver out of his black Toyota Corolla, and drove off with the car.

Police investigations led to the arrest of Favour Sunday (25), Ikot Moses (28), Dickson Ighobue Harrison (35), Joshua Adedamola (27), and Daniel Jonathan (26).

The stolen Corolla was sold for ₦500,000 to Wasiu Arinola (40), who dismantled the vehicle and sold the parts in Ibadan before his arrest.

Police are still working to recover the gun used in the robbery and track down other vehicles the group may have stolen. All suspects will face prosecution.

Lagos Commissioner of Police Olohundare Jimoh assured residents that police remain committed to protecting lives and property, encouraging the public to provide information that could help police operations.
