Afrobeat musician Made Kuti responded to a demeaning social media comment attacking his marriage to his wife, Inedoye, as a result of ethnic differences.
A troll had shared the singer’s photo, insulting him as “another stupid Yoruba man who married an osu Igbo woman” and condemning inter-tribal marriages.
Replying in a lengthy Instagram post, Made Kuti said the comment did not anger him but left him pitying the individual. He said most of Africa’s finest leaders like his grandfather, Fela Kuti fought against segregating framework such as colonialism and tribalism to battle for oneness.
Addressing the troll directly, he posted:
You have not loosened yourself from your near 500 years old bondage. Holding onto tribalism and segregation, you are still mind-controlled. The healthiest way of freeing your mind is through reading. Inform yourself with history and knowledge left by leaders like Kwame Nkrumah, Fela Kuti, and Thomas Sankara.
