Joseph Aloba, father of late Nigerian singer Mohbad, has declared his intention to pursue legal action against his daughter-in-law Wunmi, regardless of whether DNA testing confirms Liam is his biological grandson. In a recent emotional interview, Aloba expressed his continued frustration over the unresolved circumstances surrounding his son’s death, which occurred nearly two years ago.
“I knew nothing about Mohbad’s death,” Aloba stated in Yoruba. “When my son passed, Wunmi was the first person I questioned because she’s his wife.”
The grieving father revealed his primary concerns are twofold: determining what caused his son’s death and confirming if the child Mohbad left behind is truly his grandson.
However, he made it clear that property disputes are not his focus.
“Even if DNA proves that Liam is my grandson, I will sue her,” Aloba insisted, explaining his decision stems from what he considers negligent parenting.
“How can they be taking a 5-month-old boy to shows where there are lots of weed smokers? Recently, I saw that they took him to Ibadan.”
Aloba lamented the lack of progress in the investigation, pointing out that surveillance cameras inside and outside the house should have provided evidence about what happened.
“For 2 years now, someone died in the house—even if it’s the nurse, at least there are cameras inside and outside. What about forensics?”
His plea to authorities reflected his growing desperation: “Help me beg the government because I’m tired. I don’t know what else to do anymore.”
