Media personality Chinedu Ani Emmanuel, popularly known as Nedu Wazobia, has issued a pre-action notice to social media critic Martin Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), over alleged defamatory statements published on his platforms. In a letter dated February 24, 2025, Nedu’s legal team, representing both him and Tokindrumz Picture and Media Ltd, claimed that a 12-minute video posted by VDM on his YouTube and Instagram pages on February 19, 2025, contained “false, defamatory, and disparaging attacks” against their clients.
Defamation Allegations and Police Investigation
The video, titled “How Nedu Diverted NGO Scholarship Meant for Nigerians,” accused Nedu’s scholarship foundation (NDSCHF) of defrauding an NGO. However, Nedu’s lawyers dismissed the claims as false, clarifying that Nedu is not the owner of Tokindrumz but a talent under the brand.
The letter further stated that the police had investigated the fraud claims and found no case against Nedu, with the matter failing to progress to court.
Legal Demands
In the pre-action notice, Nedu’s legal team demanded that VDM:
- Retract all related videos within 24 hours
- Issue a public apology on all platforms
- Pay N500 million in damages for reputational harm
The notice also warned that failure to comply would result in further legal action.
Reacting to the legal notice in an Instagram video, VeryDarkMan acknowledged receiving it and told his followers to “get ready for a court case.”
