A contingent of Nigerian youths marched against popular social media commentator, Martins Otse, otherwise known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), for his involvement in the agitated debate over the death of the late artist Mohbad.
Viral videos of the protest showed protesters wielding placards with inscriptions like “We don’t want VDM”and “We want justice for Mohbad,” while chanting the same slogans in chorused harmony.
The protest follows a string of VDM social media allegations regarding controversies surrounding the death of Mohbad that have provoked angry online reactions.
VDM also earlier accused some Nigerian celebrities of attempting to hush up justice in the case of Mohbad. He specifically targeted actress Iyabo Ojo, accusing her of forming a WhatsApp group that reportedly included music producer Samklef, Dre DMW (who is related to Davido), and actor Jigan Baba Oja, and spreading false information and assisting in his arrest.
