The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has refuted reports that its officers were among those killed in the recent attack on border facilities at Kangiwa, Kebbi State. In a statement released by the NIS spokesperson, Kenneth Udo, the Service confirmed that the attack, which occurred on Friday, January 10, 2025, at approximately 7:20 PM, resulted in the deaths of four individuals—a local watchman and three contractors.
While no Immigration officers were harmed, the Service acknowledged significant damage to its border facilities. The statement emphasized the NIS’s ongoing collaboration with other security agencies to identify and apprehend the attackers, suspected to be a terrorist group.
“Our heartfelt condolences go out to the families of the deceased,” the statement read. “The Service is committed to ensuring border security and supporting national security efforts. We are working diligently to bring the perpetrators of these heinous acts to justice.”
The NIS reaffirmed its resolve to enhance border security measures and ensure the safety of personnel and facilities across the country.
