NNPP Suspends Senator, Three Lawmakers Over Alleged Anti-Party Activities

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano State has suspended Senator Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila and three House of Representatives members over alleged anti-party activities. Announcing the suspension in Kano on Monday, NNPP State Chairman, Alhaji Hashimu Dungurawa, expressed the party’s disappointment with the lawmakers’ actions, stating that they had worked against the party’s interests despite securing tickets under its platform in the last elections.

The suspended lawmakers include:

  1. Senator Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila (Kano South)
  2. Abdullahi Sani Rogo (Rogo Federal Constituency)
  3. Abdullahi Rurum (Rano/Kibiya Federal Constituency)
  4. Ali Madakin Gini (Dala Federal Constituency)

Allegations Against the Lawmakers

One of the key incidents leading to the suspension was Senator Sumaila’s recent invitation of top All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, and former Governor Ibrahim Shekarau to private events, including his daughter’s wedding and the maiden graduation ceremony at his private university in Sumaila LGA.

Notably, NNPP members were reportedly excluded from these gatherings, fueling speculation about Sumaila’s possible return to the APC. The NNPP has vowed to uphold party discipline and take further action if necessary to protect its integrity.
