Three major Nollywood guilds have banned actor Taye Arimoro from all film productions following a violent confrontation on set that left crew members assaulted and the industry shaken.
The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN), and Association of Movie Producers (AMP) announced the suspension after investigating an incident that occurred during the filming of Pieces of Love, produced by actress Peggy Ovire.
AGN President Emeka Rollas emphasized that the decision prioritizes the safety and integrity of Nollywood, calling it essential to maintain trust within the film community.
According to a November 27, 2025 joint statement, the guilds’ investigation identified Arimoro as the main aggressor.
He allegedly physically attacked both the production manager and a driver, then posted a live video falsely claiming Peggy Ovire was involved in the confrontation, despite her absence when the incident started.
The guilds cleared the director, production manager, and other crew members of any wrongdoing.
Arimoro’s suspension remains in effect indefinitely. To return to work, he must:
- Issue public apologies to the production manager, Peggy Ovire, and the director
-
Post a corrected video explaining what actually happened
-
Complete his remaining scenes under strict supervision
-
Follow any additional guild requirements
While Ovire wasn’t involved in the original altercation, the guilds noted that her emotional reaction at the estate gate afterward escalated tensions.
She’s been asked to submit written apologies to the guilds and estate management, along with a commitment to better on-set conduct going forward.
The guilds said these measures send a clear warning that unprofessional behavior and violence won’t be tolerated in Nollywood.
