The family feud surrounding late Nigerian singer Mohbad has taken another dramatic turn, with his father publicly disputing claims that his son ever legally married widow Omowunmi.
In a recent audio statement, Mohbad’s father dropped a bombshell: he says he never witnessed or approved any traditional wedding between the couple.
What he attended, he insists, was just an introduction ceremony, nothing more.
“When my son was alive and Cynthia said she was pregnant, I wanted to meet her family properly,” he explained.
“We went, her relatives were there, and we did the introduction. That’s when I first met his father-in-law.
But now people are saying there was a traditional wedding? Without the family head knowing? Who collected the bride price?”
The grieving father also revealed that Mohbad himself had stopped plans to formalize the marriage after allegedly catching Omowunmi with another man.
He claims his son shared this with close friends and family members before calling things off.
These doubts are fueling his continued push for a DNA test to confirm whether Mohbad’s son, Liam, is actually his biological grandson.
Meanwhile, Omowunmi isn’t backing down. She’s already taken legal steps to protect Mohbad’s estate from what she calls unauthorized meddling, a move that’s only added fuel to the fire.
Some of Mohbad’s relatives have even warned her against using the “Aloba” surname on official documents until paternity is proven, arguing there was never a valid marriage.
