The Ogun State Government has endorsed the construction of 11 strategic roads in three senatorial zones of the state as part of its ongoing process of infrastructural growth. It was among the decisions members of the State Executive Council made at its meeting at the weekend, chaired by Governor Dapo Abiodun.
Among most notable projects is the 9.2 km-long Akute Bridge to Agbado (Lateef Jakande) Train Terminal/Pass/Agbado Bridge, which will feature construction of laybys and adjourning roads to ensure ease of access.
Also approved road projects are:
- Iperu Junction to Ilishan Roundabout (Gateway International Airport Road) – 5.5 km
- Imasayi-Igan Okoto-Ayetoro Road (Phase 2B) – 4 km
- Imasayi (Phase 1 end) to Igan Okoto (Phase 2A) – 3 km
- Ibiade Road to Gao Junction – 3.8 km
Ogun State Governor Abiodun, while recently opening the 3.12 km Oke Erinja to Erinja Road, assured residents that the reconstruction of the road would reach Ilobi, ensuring the strategic position of the area as Ogun’s agriculture food basket.
“The Erinja and the Ilobi are Siamese twins, and I will not abandon them,” he stated. “I want to assure you that the road will be built as far as the Ilobi.”
Further, the governor promised to finish the Sango-Ijoko-Akute road contract within one week, because it was highly significant in linking main road networks. In his words, the work of the government on the Akute-Ajuwon, Alagbole-Ajuwon, Giwa-Oke-Aro, and Alagbole-Akute roads would only be rightfully enjoyed once the Sango-Ijoko-Akute road is done.
Governor Abiodun reiterated his administration’s focus on construction of quality infrastructure to enhance connectivity, economic development, and freedom of movement for Ogun State residents.
