The Ogun State Police Command has apprehended Taiwo and Kehinde Yemitan, along with an accomplice identified as Kazeem, in connection with the brutal murder and dismemberment of a sex worker, Darasimi, in Abeokuta.
The suspects reportedly lured Darasimi to their residence under false pretenses, where she was killed and mutilated for alleged ritual purposes. Kehinde was arrested in his hideout in Ilogbo, Ota, after his twin brother Taiwo and their accomplice Kazeem had been detained earlier.
SP Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, disclosed that intelligence and collaboration with the So Safe Corps led to Kehinde’s capture. “On December 30, 2024, a tip-off revealed Kehinde’s location, prompting a swift operation that led to his arrest,” Odutola said.
The trio allegedly committed the heinous act on December 22, 2024. Community members confirmed Kehinde’s involvement in criminal activities, further implicating him in the crime. The suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, for thorough investigation.
SP Odutola issued a strong warning to young women, urging them to avoid engaging in “hookups” and other risky behaviors that could expose them to danger. She called on parents and guardians to join efforts in educating the public about the risks associated with prostitution and other illicit activities.
“This tragic incident serves as a wake-up call for vigilance and caution, particularly among young women,” Odutola added.
