The Osun State Government has appointed Hon. Ropo Oyewole, Special Adviser to the Governor on House of Assembly Matters, to lead a panel of inquiry into the chieftaincy dispute between Esa Oke and Ido Ayegunle in Obokun Local Government Area. Governor Ademola Adeleke approved the panel’s constitution, giving it a two-week mandate to assess the crisis and propose lasting solutions.
Other members of the panel include:
- Barrister Samuel Ojo, Special Adviser on Security Matters
- A representative of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice
- Mr. M.O. Oyedeji, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Regional Integration
- Mr. J. Amusan, Director of Staff Welfare, Public Service Office
- Mrs. Adeola Ajekigbe, Deputy Director, Chieftaincy Affairs (Panel Secretary)
The panel’s primary objectives include investigating the root causes of the crisis, which erupted on January 30, 2025, following the state’s approval of Prince Oluwatimileyin Oluyemi Ajayi as the Olojudo of Ido-Ayegunle. Additionally, it will assess damages in both communities and recommend remediation measures.
Hon. Dosu Babatunde, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, announced that the panel would be inaugurated on Tuesday at the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Osogbo.
