Oyo Scholars Congress Congratulates Oba Owoade on Emergence as New Alaafin of Oyo

The Oyo Scholars Congress (OSC) has congratulated Oba Akeem Abimbola Owoade on his ascension to the revered throne of the Alaafin of Oyo. In a statement signed by its convenors, Professors Seun Kolade and Segun Oguntunji, the group described the announcement as a historic milestone that fills Oyo indigenes worldwide with pride and joy.

The OSC highlighted the significance of the Alaafin’s throne as a symbol of Yoruba heritage, unity, and resilience. The statement emphasized that Oba Owoade’s reign marks the beginning of a new era filled with potential for unity, innovation, and progress.

“As the Alaafin, your ascension carries the profound responsibility of preserving the values and wisdom passed down through generations, while charting a visionary path for the future,” the Congress noted.

The group called on all Yorubas to celebrate their shared cultural heritage and work collaboratively to foster mutual respect and advance the interests of their communities.

“As a global network of scholars from Atiba, Afijio, Oyo East, and Oyo West local governments, the Oyo Scholars Congress pledges its support and collaborative expertise to further the goals of your reign,” the statement read.

The OSC expressed its commitment to supporting initiatives aligned with the vision of a thriving and progressive Oyo. It also prayed for divine wisdom and strength for the new Alaafin, wishing him a peaceful and impactful reign.

“Ki ade o pe l’ori, ki bata pe l’ese. May your reign bring enduring blessings to Oyo and beyond,” the statement concluded.
