PANDEF’s Ken Robinson Endorses State of Emergency in Rivers, Preaches Peace

The immediate past spokesman of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), Dr. Ken Robinson, has endorsed the imposition of a State of Emergency on Rivers State by President Bola Tinubu, describing it as “imperative and inevitable.”.

Speaking at a press conference in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, Robinson was optimistic that the action would put a stop to the political crisis and prevent further loss of lives and harm to the economy.

“This action has, we hope, ended the unnecessary crisis and averted the possible loss of innocent lives and property within the state, as well as risks to our national economy and security,” he said.

Addressing the gathering also, Robinson, chairman of the Concerned Citizens of Rivers State (CCRS), criticized opinion leaders who failed to mediate the crisis but rather deepened divisions. He urged all parties to accept peace and reconciliation and noted that warnings in the past had not been heeded.

We were demonized in December 2023 for preaching peace, but look where we are today. Those who fueled this crisis instead of quelling it should be ashamed,” he said.

While Rivers State grapples with the consequences of the state of emergency, Robinson looked forward to the restoration of stability and refocused attention on governance.
