PDP Visits Niger, Condemns Kidnapping of Schoolchildren, Offers Support

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed deep sorrow over the recent kidnapping of schoolchildren at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Niger State, describing the incident as both tragic and deeply unsettling.

This sentiment was shared on Thursday when a high-powered delegation from the party visited the state to offer sympathy following the traumatic abduction of the children and other residents.

The team, led by PDP National Chairman Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, was warmly received at the Government House in Minna by Niger State Governor, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Umar Bago. During the visit, the PDP leadership spoke of the pain and frustration felt across the party over the growing insecurity in Niger and other parts of the country, especially the kidnapping of innocent schoolchildren.

The party condemned the attack outright, along with all acts of terror targeting Nigerians.

Turaki also commended Governor Bago for his swift action and continued work with security agencies to rescue the abducted children and restore calm to the affected communities. He assured both the governor and the people of Niger State of the PDP’s thoughts, prayers, and full support during this difficult time, adding that the party’s concern for the safety and welfare of Nigerians goes beyond political lines.
