Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has dismissed reports claiming he criticised the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in a recent interview. Some media outlets had quoted Obi as saying the ADC was struggling because it had not resolved issues around zoning and the rotation of key political offices.
The reports attributed the remarks to an alleged Wednesday interview published on YouTube by a platform called Advocacy for Good Governance.
But Obi, through a statement issued on Friday by his spokesman, Ibrahim Umar, said the claims were completely fabricated.
According to the statement, the so-called interview never happened. “The Peter Obi Media Office (POMO) once again feels compelled to refute false and malicious claims circulating about an interview purportedly granted by Mr Peter Obi,” Umar said.
He added that Obi did not grant any interview nor make any comments attacking the African Democratic Congress, stressing that the circulating reports were misleading and should be ignored.
