The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has urged Nigerians to ignore what it described as baseless allegations made by former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, against President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike.
In a statement in Port Harcourt, APC State Chairman, Chief Tony Okocha, condemned Sowore’s utterances as “falsehoods” and “the rantings of a man rejected at the polls and drowning in political irrelevance.”
What an affront for any citizen to call the President, the highest office holder in the land, a ‘criminal’. Nigerians must stand up to this rascal and charlatan whose trade in stock is blackmail, lies, and incitement,” Okocha said.
He further alleged that Sowore is already standing trial for cybercrime and defamation, including the one filed by the Department of State Services (DSS) for transmitting inciting and malicious messages against Tinubu.
According to Okocha, Sowore’s actions are aimed at causing distrust, destabilising institutions, and inciting public unrest. He therefore called for the arrest and prosecution of Sowore, arguing that an individual with such allegations does not have the moral justification to disparage leaders who are focused on developing the nation.
