Road Safety Agency Mourns Ruth Otabor Killed in Truck Accident Near Auchi Polytechnic

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has expressed sadness over the death of Miss Ruth Otabor, Phyna‘s sister and a student who died from injuries sustained when a Dangote truck collided with a commercial motorcycle near Auchi Polytechnic in Edo State on Monday, August 11, 2025.

Otabor passed away despite medical treatment for her injuries. FRSC Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed offered condolences to her family, the Students Union, and the entire Auchi Polytechnic community.

The FRSC said it has increased its work with various groups to prevent similar accidents.

The agency has held meetings with the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) to discuss safety issues and is working with major transport companies like Dangote and BUA to improve driver training and certification programs.

The Corps emphasized that while it continues to enforce road safety rules, this incident highlights the need for everyone to work together to make Nigerian roads safer.

The agency promised to strengthen its enforcement activities, public education efforts, and partnerships to reduce accidents and protect lives.

In a statement from Corps Public Education Officer, Assistant Corps Marshal Olusegun Ogungbemide, the FRSC renewed its commitment to protecting lives on Nigerian roads and again offered sympathy to Otabor’s family and the Auchi Polytechnic community.
