Kaduna-born Islamic cleric Sheikh Ahmad Abubakar Gumi called on Palestinian militant group Hamas to release all Israeli civilian hostages unconditionally forthwith.
Releasing a statement on his verified Facebook account on Saturday, Gumi described the kidnapping of civilians as a miscalculation and called on Hamas to dedicate efforts towards recovering Palestinian territories using what he referred to as “clean force” rather.
“It’s a mistake to abduct them at all. Hamas needs to re-strategize in order to win back their homeland through the clean use of brute force, which is their right to utilize and defend. Then Allah will give them a clear victory. And it’s coming soon,” he said.
His words followed reports that Hamas acceded to releasing Israeli hostages in an exchange as part of a truce deal brokered by U.S. President Donald Trump, who in addition requested Israel to end its air offensive on Gaza.
