Suspected members of the Lakurawa terror group killed an officer of the Nigeria Customs Service, DSC S. Muhammad, in a midnight attack on the Maje Border Outstation in Bagudo local government area of Kebbi State.
The attackers reportedly stormed the Maje Customs Post about midnight on Saturday and shot the officer, setting his vehicle ablaze. His remains have been deposited at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Birnin Kebbi, with burial fixed for Sunday.
The attack has heightened fear among customs personnel stationed at border posts in the area, with many expressing concern over their safety amid persistent threats from the terror group.
The incident is the latest in a string of violent attacks against security operatives and civilians in Kebbi State, highlighting the need for increased security operations to protect border communities.
