Nigerian activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has revealed that TikTok content creator Olumide Ogunsanwo, popularly known as Seaking, was re-arrested in Lagos on Thursday, February 6, and flown to Abuja over alleged defamatory remarks about Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).
Sowore, in a statement shared on his Facebook page, said he visited the Federal Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) alongside lawyer Deji Adeyanju, where they were informed that Seaking was being detained for cyberbullying Adeboye. The arrest reportedly stemmed from a petition submitted by one Paul James Adama on behalf of the clergyman.
According to Sowore, police officers traveled from Abuja to Lagos to arrest Seaking over a TikTok session from December 2024, where he criticized Adeboye. A check on Seaking’s TikTok page showed videos in which he verbally attacked the pastor for wearing military camouflage during the church’s convention last August and for allegedly stating that Nigerians should be grateful that the exchange rate had risen to N10,000 per dollar.
Sowore condemned the police action, calling it “disheartening” and an abuse of power. He also accused the force of prioritizing the interests of influential figures over justice.
“Nigerians, I must state that the decline of the police force is indeed disheartening. #FreeSeakingNow #EgbetokunMustGo,” he wrote.
Legal representatives, including Adeyanju and Marshal D.F. Abubakar, have stepped in to defend Seaking.
