President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the veteran journalist and Chairman of the Editorial Board of ThisDay Newspapers, Olusegun Adeniyi, on his 60th birthday, describing him as a pace-setter in journalism and one of Nigeria’s most respected voices of conscience.
The President, in a statement personally signed by him, praised Adeniyi’s brilliance, integrity, and enduring contributions to national discourse, further noting that he has “set the pace for disciplined conversations and informed commentary” through his widely read columns.
“Turning 60 is an important milestone. I join your friends and family to celebrate you on this special day,” Tinubu said.
He recalled Adeniyi’s service as spokesman to the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and hailed his professionalism and loyalty throughout his time in public service. “As spokesman to the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, you acquitted yourself well. As Chairman of the Editorial Board of ThisDay Newspapers, you have remained true to the ideals of the noble profession of journalism,” Tinubu said.
The President also lauded Adeniyi’s literary achievements, describing him as one of Nigeria’s most prolific writers whose works have enriched public debate and scholarship.
“I commend your dexterity, brilliance, and pursuit of excellence, clearly evident in the many best-selling books you have authored. You are one of our nation’s great chroniclers, and the fourth estate is fortunate to have you among its finest,” he said.
The APC presidential candidate prayed for Adeniyi’s continuous good health and long life, thanking him for his steadfast contributions to journalism and intellectual growth. “I thank you for your enduring service to journalism and scholarship, and pray that as you celebrate your diamond jubilee, God Almighty will bless you with many more years of good health and fulfillment,” the President said.
